In 2017, Cleveland-Cliffs, an independent iron ore company headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, announced plans to construct a new $700 MM Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI) Plant on a 110-acre site redeveloped by the Toledo Lucas County Port Authority, City of Toledo, and Regional Growth Partnership.
Following the announcement, Cleveland-Cliffs contracted with Generation Pipeline to extend a high-pressure natural gas pipeline to the 110-acre site. Generation Pipeline worked with Ohio regulators to permit and eventually construct the Ironville Lateral, a 16-inch diameter, 8,000 linear foot pipeline connecting the Oregon Lateral to Cleveland-Cliffs new HBI Plant.
In 2019, NCGT and its partners sold Generation Pipeline to Nexus Gas Transmission, LLC a 50/50 partnership between DTE Energy Company and Enbridge Inc. for $160MM.
